I have to say i hated it at first but have persisted with it and now i quite like it, when you get used to it it is actually quite easy to read, and the colours look nicer

The new stuff is terrible. I quickly went back to the default blue. Please tell me the option to change will remain.
Also, please can we have an option to turn off the display of the headers/footers and associated garbage. It serves no purpose except to make pages longer.

Which part of the headers and footers, as you an turn off the sig and other things... Do you want the banner gone completely?

User CP > Edit options > New VB stylee = OLD colour scheme.....

yes, get rid of banner, currently active users, posting rules, similar threads , powered by etc. It is all useless garbage cluttering the screen.
