Sounds like you all need to grow some balls and learn to be a little bit more selfish - my OH and I do what we want when we want - we don't need to ask - we tell each other! We don't own each other after all! He has been abroad on holiday without me/parties without me/out on his bike without me most weekends - I go out on my bike without him (often with other men!) but then he trusts me implicitly and vice versa. We also do things together too of course.

Seriously though what's all this "request to go out" we've just never ever been like that - I wouldn't dare tell S what and when he can do and vice versa! - mind I am beginning to think we may be slightly weird reading this thread (just be carefull how you answer that )

Really Lou..... you've met Mrs Rictus.

Whilst I love her to bit, the "me or the bike" is something she's never done and indeed wouldn't.

But then that's just another reason she's the perfect women for me.......

Cheers Mark.

Now Mrs Rictus is indeed the perfect Mrs, that everyone would want to have their own version of

The way the some of the thread posts went it just gave me this odd vision of the fellas trying to request a day.

And indeed there is always a bit of this from the ladies too!

If she doesn't comply there is only one thing to do i'm afraid.

We don't "request" days out, we work together as a team to carry out our responsibilities as parents.

I have spent several Saturday or Sunday's lately just me and my son, because my wife is studying for a PGCE on a one year intensive course and has had to study. When I check dates with her for a rideout, what I'm basically doing is checking her diary to see that she doesn't have anything else already planned that day that would mean I had to look after my son.

If she wants to book a hair appointment that's going to take 4 hours out of a Saturday (highlights) she asks me if the date is convenient and can I keep my son? She has just phoned to ask if I am OK to collect him from Nursery as she's going to be late home from University, if I said no she'd have to change her plans.

Any other weekends I'd be fine, unless she already had something planned, but Mothers Day my Sister and I and our families usually have dinner at my Mothers house, and Easter Sunday is a time would normally spend as a family.

Some folk are reading far too much into this, these kind of things are just normal family life.

For the mothers day one, it's simple, do what i did.

Send a text, easier for them not to reply, then send "Got a ride on mothers day, i'll send a card"

Done
