IMO Hx is absolute pants for a night out these days. Back int days of old, and I MEAN OLD, we used to start the evening in the Portman and Pickles, where it was packed to the rafters, as it had the arches to hide under, then over to the Union Cross, the George, then upto the ZOO BAR. Occasionally we used to detour into the Old **** depending what sort of music was playing, or indeed the Sportsman......eeeee the days when there was a choice of good pubs with good music.
Sadly when Bar15 disappeared and only the Sportsman remained I practically stopped going into to town. The Sporty is like the last saloon standing, and after about 15 yrs it still smells of those little yellow blocks they put in mens loos!

Never been to the Bigg Market in Newcastle, a certain amount of booze has to be consumed to make it bearable

It's crap having to wait till april to get the machine especially when i'm now noticing more SV's on the road lol. So where is the AR usually held and when?

The Puzzle technically is not Hx, as in centre.
The Puzz is my all time favourite pub, much more civilised and much more fun. Just hoping they get jazz night back on a Tues, cause I'll be there

puzzle is in sowerby bridge if its the same one i know? much better round there imo. night out in SB? followed by shyiba? bit of a taxi ride tho? having said that im flat broke at the moment. nice wishing all my pennies away

yup theres only one Puzzle Hall Andy. I'm so glad someone has taken it over that has brought back the live music again, I love the place! I consider it my local, even though its not.

Think everyones a bit skint right now, we went down there for my birthday, wish we could have stayed all night
