Welcome along.... where were we? Ah yes, pass my photo album

So we were on our first trip away, insulated, carpetted, make shift bed (airbed on the floor), 1 window installed in the sliding door.. and that was about as luxurious as it got. But we had a bloody great time all the same.

Anywho, since then the van has mutated again - this time, new ply floor:

Carpetted wheel arches and collected the 3/4 rock'n'roll bed from autobeds uk in blackburn

Take it home & cut some boards out of 12mm ply

Call up Kev the engineering genious (aka that b*stard who knows how to do absolutely everything and to a very high standard) - cut out 2nd window aperture and fit window

Drill & screw boards to the bed

16 hours later remove strapping from newly fitted window

Pack up camping gear (ordering foam for the bed later this week, we just used the airbed again - it was even comfier than our own bed in our house )

First time testing the new pop-up awning at whitby this weekend

View from our window

Upcoming jobs: FINISH CARPETTING THE EXPOSED METAL WORK INSIDE! Keep putting this job off because I've convinced myself it's going to be alot harder than it actually will be.

Once the carpet is done, fit the 2 x leather saab seats, order up the foam for the r'n'r bed, get kev's mate to upholster it, fit the special hard wearing lino to the floor and it's basically finished for the time being

Later on we're wanting to fit some cupboards down the offside of the van but it's not urgent. Also, I've got a few plans for getting it lowered (40 or 60mm), re-map to 130bhp (from 88bhp), stainless steel side rails/running bars and also get the rear window tinted to match the sides.

So then... own up - who else is contemplating something like this?

Been thinking about it for years.

Just need to get the cash together.

Oh and for ref I would like it to be an old-style Renault Master LWB High-top - the ones that look like

Always wondered if you could put sliding doors on both sides

If you cant stretch to a Van, but want some of the experience, a bit pricey but you could get one of these

Finally found some time & motivation to get back on with the build after a busy 2 months with work.. I picked up a set of 4 steel wheels from another t4 for £40...

3 had tyres still on, 1 was just the steel so I decided to start with this and see how it went

After a good going over with wire wheel in my drill

3-4 generous coats of primer

Spray with 'wheel and trim paint' which is a nice silver

.......then I thought 'Right, time for the lacquer', pulled out my can of 'Klear Kote' thinking it would give a nice clear coat.....

...it was only bleddy white!!

I spent 5 minutes dithering as to whether I liked it, then decided to go ahead with the lot. Taking the other 3 steels to a tyre shop to get the rubber off & make life easier for me. Once they're finished I'll take em back and get my existing rubber fitted (maybe even new if I can afford it, there's a fair chunk of life left in them yet though)..

Does anyone reckon I'll need to put a coat of lacquer over the top of this or will it be ok?

Nice one Paul, afellow T4 owner and T4forum dweller myself. Here's my baby which has been in my posession for the last 5 years. Campers rule especially if you have a motorcycle trailer with an SV on it too (my next project)
