My enlightened employers have sent me on a couple of driving courses. Maybe start with a CPC for all business drivers.

Then by improving flow by allowing drivers to make progress within their lane instead of having to cross 3 lanes because of a dozy idiot doing 60 in lane 2, turning off unneccasarry traffic lights outside of peak hours on roundabouts, and allowing American style turns against red lights we may start to get the country moving.
Sack the idiots that have put traffic islands in what were overtaking lanes. And ffs mmake the motorway speed reflect reality. 100mph. With a minimum of 70.

Pull back in, sometimes you'll never get back out.

I pulled in recently on a dual carriageway, an SUV continued in the right lane, the car in front was going 60 so I was waiting for this SUV to pass... except he didn't, he just diddled along, in my blind spot, at maybe 61. In the end I braked so he went past me, pulled in behind him and switched on my lights to suggest he either effin move over or get a move on!

(the thought had occured he was hanging back to let me out, but he was waaaay too close for comfort to do that!)

Other than reducing conviction... what real difference is it going to make?

Yesterday on the way home from work for the whole 70 miles I was on the M40 I don't think the average speed of the outside lane was below 100mph.

Agree with the drink drive limit being reduced though. I know people who's judgement is effected after 1 pint... me included (self admitted lightweight).

The drink drive limit obviously can't be reduced to zero as things like mouth wash have alcohol, but it should be reduced to as near as damn zero.

They are nowhere as near as busy because France is a much larger country, more spread out, more room......but the population AFAIK is the equivalent of the UK.....we're squashed to capacity on out little island, they aren't.

All this talk of physics reminds me of the thread I posted the other day....logic vs free thinking.

i would be delighted with the speed limit being increased to 80. however the biggest problem i think is the fact that learner drivers don't have to learn how to drive on the motorway as part of the driving test! if that happened i think the problem of middle lane dawdlers and lane hoggers would reduce significantly.

Don't agree with raising the limit as there's too many numpty who think they are good drivers and are safe, whatever the speed.

My BIL has had more write off and accidents, his insurance premiums are through the roof.

And he's trained by Police in high speed driving to the same standard as BP is. But then my BIL has always driven like a .uckin .anchor.

He drives an Audi nuff said

The average Joe salesbloke in his Audi A5 doesn't have the same training, but he'll be up your chuff at 90mph lights flashing get outa my way rage

I heard a good point on a radio debate faster speeds = more fuel consumption= more tax revenue for HM Gov
