Chill out - I'm not having a go, I'm giving advice about the general nature and atmosphere about this forum. Banter is one thing, and IB is the place for non bike chit chat. But we also have a place to post all the real chit chatty stuff so that the main body of IB doesn't get clogged up. The Megathread system works quite well, I think. People can opt to go in there or ignore it - their choice.
Several people have said it Sarah so please take note. Every internet forum has its style and quirks, just like each person's house. No rules have been broken but maybe some thought into other people's perceptions of you may help.
The megathread is there and yours for the taking and filling up. Go girl!

Start on page 1 and read. You'll soon get the gist

you just post in there, a general hello or what ever, jump into whatever conversation happens to be going on at the time.

if a subject it's not "worthy" of a thread on it's own, it goes in the mega thread, or starts in there then gets a thread of it's own if you think there's enough discussion around it.

The u-rating still applies in there, but pretty much anything goes.

Yes, but remember you aren't the only one who uses IB. As Messie says, if you want to talk utter cr*p then use the megathread at the top of Idle Banter and if you are going to post so much then sorry, but you're going to get some negative reaction, because not everybody agrees with everybody else all the time...

Then might I humbly suggest that you do so now. I think of Idle Banter like a pub. There will be people in the pub I dont like, there will be people in the pub I do. There will be people in the pub who are my best friends and would do anything they could to help me if I needed it.

What do you do when you walk into a strange pub you haven't been in before, Bet £1 gets you £2 that you dont go around speaking at 500 words a minute to a complete bunch of strangers do you ?

If you did would you be surprised if somebody eventually said, hey can you calm it down abit ?

Because thats all thats going on here. You've walked into a pub full of strangers and you havent got the gist or the idea or how the pub works, thats all...
