My bank did not phone me the other day, so im still not sure if the cheque has cleared, i have been trying to phone my branch today but could not get through at the times i could try (morning and lunch breaks), i phoned the the bank tonight and was told by a guy who speaks very little and not clear english to phone my branch in the morning. so i will have to sneak out of work in the morning to phone them.

So still non the wiser

but the points for me to consider it not benig a fake are:

the buyer offered to pay cash when he picked the bike up
I know several home and work phone numbers fot the buyer
I know where he works (he says he owns a BIG company)
I have real E-mail addresses (not hotmail or yahoo) for his bussiness

It is all sounding like it will work out ok.

My advice now would be:-

1) Chase/harrass your branch to get the answer on the cheque

2) Demand to speak with your branch manager to get a refund for the fee that they charged you. You have paid them to get the answer of the cheque and then contact you with that answer - they have not done that, so why should you still have to pay?

Good luck mate

How did you get on mate?

Do make sure you fight for the refund, Matt is quite right, you have not got the service you paid for.

I phoned my bank again today, After waiting for almost 15 mins, i spoke to a foreign woman, she was useless, i could not understand a word she said, i asked to speak to a different person, but all she kept saying was that her manager is busy. In the end i put the phone down and tryed again.
This time i got a still foreign accented person, but atleast i could understand him, he said that i need to phone my branch, he gave me their number, and said bye.
I am now getting extremely fed up.
I phone my branch and am asked how i got their number, I tell her how i got it and she said that i cannot phone them directly, i have to be put through. She then told me that she cannot tell me any information about the 'special presentation cheque' and that i need to phone the main call centre and ask to be put through to the 'special presentation department'.
So, i phone my bank again and after waiting 15-20 mins i ask some one to put me through to the department that i require. After a couple of minutes wait, i hear a faint voice, in real english saying 'hello, anyone there' she could not hear me, the line was very quiet. i tryed shouting and everything but no luck.
I then hung up and phoned the bank again. I ask for the phone number for the 'special presentation cheque' department, and i am told they cannot give out phone numbers, only put me through. So i asked to be put through again, and have the same problem.

I have now ran out of ideas and still none the wiser

So my branch cannot help me, and i cant communicate with the call center. It seems the people at the call center are not trained good enough.

Any one got any ideas

Oh yea...My bank is the HSBC
I am going to be changing banks as soon as all of this is sorted, Any one know of a bank with a call center in the UK???
