Used to have just the one or a half but now don't... even if I'm not over the limit I feel affected and become a little overconfident. Each to their own - no point imposing drastic rules on everyone. If someone can have 2 pints and ride safer and with more control than I can with no drink then that's fine by me...

Def the right thing to do by informing the police, after all, he was involved in an accident and he had injury. i would of called the police right there and then not only for suspected drink and riding, but more for his safty being at the side of the road and other road user's safty with all them bike bits on the road.
on the zero tolorence front, i sometimes wished they could just ban smoking and drinking all together (well, they don't do me health good anyway). so i can stop spending pointless money (worked out to be around 64k excluding interests for 18 years of smoking and drinking) and slowly killing myself .. ![]() Can you get done for riding a horse and drinking? or you can only be done by giving horses alcohol? ![]() |

Zero blood alcohol is impossible to achieve. Pilots are banned from drinking for 24 hours before flying, but even then, they don't have zero blood alcohol. There was a thing a while back about passive drinking i.e. sitting in the pub drinking lemonade, but getting alcohol from the atmosphere around you.
I don't know whether the limit should be raised or lowered. Certainly it's impossible to set a limit in pints or units, since the effect of a pint on an eight stone woman is going to be very different from the effect on an 18 stone rugby player. |

BA, you did right and I'm inclined to think that doing it down the road was also a wise choice.
As for changing the limit, there is very little to suggest that the current limit is inappropriate and I personally believe that suggestions of lowering the limit are pointless. The limit as it stands is well researched. Those that ignore this current limit will ignore a lower limit. I personally believe that perhaps the penalties for drink driving should be more severe and maybe even more done to catch those who do it habitually. I did it a few times when I was younger and more foolish and I regret it now. I know others on here have also done it. |

Definitely did the right thing. If he's nicked for it it'll certainly make him think twice the next time!
I'm sure most people have found themselves slightly over at some stage and it's horrible, really not good on a bike! A pint's it for me now and that's rare. But this guy hitting the barrier on a clear road he must have been hammered! Idiot. ![]() |

I probably would have called an ambulance for him as he was hurt and it is my understanding that police automatically get called to a road accident if an ambulance is called, just to make sure he got caught. But I would say you did the right thing.
I normally don't drink anything when I am on the bike mainly because there in no point. A zero tolerance would be a bit drastic, the other week we were having a BBQ and I had drank one bottle of Bud and then realised we didn't have any fire lighters so I nipped out to get some as of all the drivers I had drank the least, one Bud doesn't even touch me at all and it would take the **** to get done for that amount. |
