Out of curiosity, are you using mild or stainless wire for the welding?

Hi guys!
Ok, went to the garage this evening. Had 5 litres of fresh gasoline and thought "now please start". Emptied the tank from the (supposed) bad fuel and held the flag high until everything once again set to be the perfect moment and hear the bike for moaning for the first time with them Duc pipes installed... Almost sh*t myself (sorry) of anger and frustration when it once again didn't start. Thought about auctioning the bike several times... "Selling her that didn't start"... OK, thank God I didn't. Decided to once again go throught the electrics on the bike and found the problem. You know, I have all the cables hanging down since don't have the undertray fitted... this meant that the automatic ignition stop switch was on (when bike fall to the side it cuts the power), what's the name for it? Problem was easily solved when I just lifted the switch in up right position!!!!!!!! I realized I have a much more advanced bike because I had no knowledge of this switch existing... IT STARTED!!! Do you think it sounded nice??!! Now this was where I went flying off to heaven and the moon! ![]() I reccon I'll get problems with fitting the battery and I might need to go for a gel one... absolutely have to cut the original undertray (nice I've bought a used one in spare...). Aaaaah, Can go to sleep with the flag high tonight. Cheers! |

Hi glade! ![]() It's not that close as it might seem on the pictures. I've taken into consideration the swinging of the swingarm... surely need to see if this will be a problem when rifing the bike... ![]() What I'll do with the brake hose on the swingarm is still open as the original hose comes to near the pipe. Think I need to install some stainless steel brake hose of some sort. Anybody have other suggestions? ![]() |

pATz...That is looking very good indeed! Well done. I think you might have to figure out how to attach some kind of heat shield to the link pipes as they are going to be very close to your legs when you are riding. They will cook you. Have a look at how they do it on the 749/999's for your inspiration. Basically you need a couple of spacers welding to the pipe and then some kind of plate fixing to them. An air gap in between the pipe and the shield will mean ess heat in itself.
You could even weld a couple of nuts at the right kind of spacing to accomadate all manner of heat shields that are available on the internet. ![]() |

Think I'll do just as you suggested with the heat shield and lucky I am having spare parts of that 748/916 piping... just some easy cutting and welding. ![]() Sheit, it's still a lot to do before season (= 1 month time)... ![]() Cheerio! |

Well done mate! Hope it's ready in time for the first bit of nice weather over there ![]() |

![]() Nice comments and nice pics you've put up here. Actually I thought at first about buying some ready made high-up slipons of some fabric preferably incarbon. However scrolled the internet and found this project and got inspired myself! ![]() ![]() Thanks for the tip about the protector. Will keep this in mind when placing/welding the protectors (will need several!?)... Cheers! ![]() |

Mmm, I like the pipework on that one but I think the cans look pretty awful tbh. Far too wide. If they'd been vertical, or round cans, it'd look far better.
