If the cap fits I guess.

For some reason I'm reminded of my five year old nephew throwing a tantrum.

Cheers

Excellent. All this thread needs is some knee-jerk politics and it'll be teh Ultimate Bad SV650.org Thread

I rode a dual carriageway stretch every day for a year on my disaster of a 125. It showed 72 on the speedo just once, but it took the best part of the afternoon and a hill to get there. Did I get in dangerous situations because of the lack of acceleration above 60? A couple of times, then I realised it was me screwing up, not the bike.

If you think you should always be able to accelerate away from trouble, you just have to ride in such a way that you have that margin left. If you do get in a situation where you're bing tailgated in the fast lane with nowhere to pull to the left, and not enough power to get past the middle lane traffic, you've messed up big- you've committed to an overtake or maneuvre that you can't safely complete. The tailgater is in the wrong, of course, but if you'd applied any riding sense you'd not be in that position in the first place.

Really good riding isn't about getting out of dangerous situations. It's about having the foresight to know when they'll happen, and not being there when they do. And sitting in the fast lane with no way out is a mistake, pure and simple, and relying on hardware to get you out of your mistakes is another.

IMO

I have only one thing to say...............

33bhp licence........... Indulge me as it's one of the few perks of being old

Seriously, many young 33bhp bikers have managed to bin their bikes. some of these then ask for more power and wonder why we shake our heads at them.

We "oldies" are allowed full power licences because, in general (although there are exceptions!) we have more road-sense and experience.

I did DAS at the age of 39 after 20 years of road use (god, I was tired ). Never even dropped the bike, let alone binned it.

There's a 33bhp law for a reason.
