Have to say NOT impressed by the Irish - nowhere near the level that they were playing at last autumn
![]() O'Gara missing penalties, Stringer getting harassed in the scrums ![]() I think this 6 Nations could be lot closer than first thought. ![]() Wales were more impressive that I expected. As it stands any one of 4 teams could potentially win this championship (sorry to all you jocks ![]() I must just add that with the exception of not using the sin-bin the refereeing was excellent. To my way of thinking too many forward passes & crooked put-ins from both scrums & line-outs are being missed / let go these days. An entertaining match - but not one that I think will by any means frighten the French or English management or players. ![]()

Super...Come on matey, not pretty and yes some contentious decisions going on. However 3 tries to nil-zilch-zero away from home is not to be sniffed at. The Irish were good value for their win as the Welsh on home soil despite all their possesion and territorial dominance threatened very little.

But nowhere near as decisive as I (& others I'm sure) expected given their Autumn performances.
The only players who really lived up to their 'billing' were Gordon D'Arcy (who has been under-rated / overshadowed for so long) & possibly at a stretch Brian O'Driscoll - who from what I read is doubtful for the next match due to the hamstring strain he picked up. I think the next match against France could well decide the championship winner - but then again Wales could easily bounce back & England could still improve & cause an 'upset' - assuming of course that they don't get carried away with result from yesterday, but I think Brian Ashton's way too savvy to let that happen ![]()

Ireland are pros.
They go out, and its another day at the office, and they expect to win at the end of it all. They get the job done, and they leave it at that. There was no need to utterly kill themselves and destroy Wales (even if they could), and potentially face injury etc. Besides, Wales might very well not be a bad team at all. And they were playing at home. Did you notice the rapturous overjoyed Irish celebrations at the end? No. Neither did anyone. Its almost like they don't enjoy it. (I am sure they do.) It's just they are very cold talented organized professionals at this point. Shrug. Scary enough team to play against. England might have been flattered against Scotland. Maybe. And they might be getting a little too delighted with themselves over Wilkinson. He is one guy. He is injury prone, and just back to fitness. And, hanging your entire hopes on him to play well and win the match is a risky enough tactic. One altercation with the rough end of someone like Chabal could stop England in their tracks. Just sayin. |

Okay I've tried to stop myself from running my mouth of, but I can't help it.......
![]() First thing... Ireland will win the triple crown and the 6 nations, end of. (we've been waiting since 1948 for the nations for goodness sake, it's long overdue). The match with Wales was entertaining. The difference was that Wales played close to their best, Ireland didn't and Wales still lost. Ireland may not flatter but the simple fact is that they will get the job done, make a mistake or give them an opportunity and they will punish the opposition. 3 trys V's 3 penalties says it all really. Bring on the French at Croke Park....now that should be a reasonable challenge at least! Plus I'm being realistic I don't expect Ireland to waltz through undefeated. Italy.....they're just whipping boys! Scotland.......well at least they'll beat Italy ![]() As for England.....be serious! They get 1 victory (against Scotland, who they should have beaten anyway) and all of a sudden the fans and media become convinced they'll win the next world cup.........AS IF!!!!!!!! There we go, I'm finished, my rant is over and even if I'm found to be talking completely outta my a** at least I feel better for it!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

Well thats my table is out the door! A good show from Scotland! Nice running from the backs and some solid set play. Patterson did well. Italy also played better than expected - nothing to loose but a great backline defense to keep England out. They can do with some more size up front.

England played poorly any team with a decent running game will take them apart. The Welsh went missing today, sorry but after the display against Ireland last week they should have run the Scots into he ground, But fair play to the Jocks they stifled the Welsh attack and should have scored a couple of tries. Still think the Irish will win it certainly the triple crown depending on their game against the frogs tomorrow.
Maybe England will come good I can but hope but not holding my breath. |

![]() And we are missing O'Driscoll AND Stringer. O'Driscoll not being there is really going to hurt. I am a bit worried about the match now... |
