You could try 'Reading' as a cheap hobby - I mean, libraries are full of books so you don't even need to buy any.

Ahh - but then, following your previous examples, you'll get into a particular author...

... then want to buy all their books...

... then you'll just have to get the first editions...

... get them signed...

... = expensive hobby again.

Or see it as an investment - I have a complete set of UNSIGNED Prattchetts - gotta be worth more than the signed ones :P

They have a run in the garden too. I think they're great little pets, if you're certain you'd be happy with only keeping 2 or 3 hens then the eglu would be fine...chickens are kind of addictive tho so if you think you might want more then it's worth getting something bigger. The house they're in now was about £400. An eglu's about £300 iirc so there's not a huge amount in it really

'Investment' implies that you are one day going to sell them - me - nah.

Unless one of my nephews developes a fine sense of taste I'm being buried with my first editions.
