Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Boiler fixed. Just a broken plastic fan which then seized. Enquiries are ongoing with regard to new boiler. Sometime this summer I think...

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Full blown anxiety attack at 3.30am. Gave up at 4am and got up to do some work to distract myself. Going to be very tired later.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
A flyer for the Brexit party arrived in the post addressed to my 22yo son. Nothing for me or the wife. I think I can see who they're targeting. Now in the shredder.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Indeed, but I'll find something else to replace it

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
To simplify it slightly... You find something else to focus on to take you out of the loop of anxiety. I use the 54321 technique sometimes. Think of 5 things you can see, 5 things you can hear, 5 things you can feel. Then 4 things (they can be the same from the 5 things repeated if you can remember them), then 3, then 2, then 1. It can slow you down and help get you outside of your own head and grounds you again in the real world. Anxiety can often be a self fulfilling loop. If you can break that loop or calm it you can get yourself into a more rational place. Especially in the middle of the night when we're least rational. It's about giving youreself a slight break and then allowing yourself to come back to your worry (if real) in a calmer more productive way. Preferably after you've had some sleep! Anxiety is horrible. A lot of people will dismiss it as hippy-ish, but we really need to be kinder to ourselves. If it was someone else talking to us the way we treat ourselves sometimes we'd tell them to bugger off! There's loads of other techniques and ideas and when you start to get to grip with using them they start to work fairly quickly each time you use them.
