Re: Vintage film cameras
It'll be interesting to see what turns up in there. Impossible to tell which version of the 35-70 it is but as you say, it's either version 2 or 3, which are supposed to have fairly similar image quality. Even better if you can get the cameras working.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I also picked up a job lot of gear from a Facebook market post, two hour round trip on the bike but this Topcon Uni was the pick of the bunch. Had to flick the flash switch off V and it seems to be working OK.

Re: Vintage film cameras
The GAS is taking you! Fingers crossed for the haul. I've started taking some pics with my Olympus S, it's even quieter than the Konica, especially now the barrel wobble has gone. It works fine but it does sound like it's not firing.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Good for street photography! The Topcon has a really weird set up, it's got a leaf shutter instead of a curtain. The mirror acts as a blind, when you press the release the shutter closes, the aperture stops down, the mirror flips out of the way and the shutter fires. Once that's done, the mirror flips down and the aperture and shutter open again. I'll try and get a slow mo of it. The bundle included a Zenit E, a Pentax A3, Polaroid Supercolor, Polaroid Super Swinger, Polaroid Swinger and a Praktica PL Nova B.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Good to get a Topcon. There aren't many of those around.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Sellers photo. Couldn't tell right away what it was. There is even a Sony Mavica that uses floppy discs!

Re: Vintage film cameras
Interesting about the Topcon, I think there were a few leaf shutter SLRs and they were all fearsomely complex. Some or all of the Zeiss Contaflexes only allowed a view through the VF when the shutter was cokked, and yes same sort of complex series of things having to open and close, you can see why the focal plane shutter was easier to use, even if it meant fiddling with curtains and a slow flash sync speed.

Re: Vintage film cameras
From what I have been reading the Topcon was complex and expensive to repair, hence the reason there are so many orphaned lenses for sale. I managed to grab a Minolta XG 1with a 45mm f2 lens off eBay,hopefully the lens will be in good condition without fungus.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Hey Yoko, have you ever done any trade-ins with WYC? They have a Nikon F2 I'm interested in and wondering what they were like. I've only ever bought from them.
No pics though: https://wycameras.com/collections/la...-2-sonnar-ugly

Re: Vintage film cameras
No, I never traded anything in. Like you, I've only ever bought lenses and a few other bits so no idea what their trade in deals are like.
