Re: Vintage film cameras
Got the OM4 through today, manual mode doesn't seem to want to work but after a little use auto mode started working. May look at getting this serviced at some point.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Looks good. Definitely one worth keeping. Did the lens come with it too?

Re: Vintage film cameras
No, I robbed that off an OM10. It will end up with a 50mm f1.4 eventually.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I got 3 films back today.
The Fed 2 is working fine; no light leaks. Shots from the Contax look a little washed out and overexposed but that may have something to do with using expired film and adding one stop of ASA. Spotmatic shots came out mostly OK in the end ... attempts at swirly bokeh with the Helios. It's there but more practice needed. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I like that last one, is the middle one expired film? I spoke to someone about the OM4 and they think it might be a straightforward repair (fingers crossed) I'm going to be running a film through on auto to start with to make sure it does actually work. I want to shoot a roll with the FED 2 on the next outing. I also want to get a FED Zarya which is the zone focus version.

Re: Vintage film cameras
They're all on expired film but the first 2 were before I changed the battery, when I think the metering was a bit dodgy. Exposure on later shots is all ok.
I had to look up the Fed Zarya; didn't know about that variant. For a 60 year old no frills camera, I'm fairly happy with what it produced. I should really try the Zorki and the Kiev next. A broken Tessar 50mm Zebra arrived today. I've a broken one too so hoping I can put them together and salvage something. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Yeah, next on my list. The very occasionally pop up in the UK, but most likely will have to bring one in from the continent. I'm pretty sure all of my film is expired now, I bought so much Vista from PL back in the day that it all pretty much went out in 2018. I've got another spare OM10 body heading for the charity shop unless anyone wants it? I found a Canon Sureshot point and shoot in my stash so its living in the glovebox of my car now.
