Re: Vintage film cameras
Got the job lot through today, the 50mm f1.4 had fungus on the inner rear element. Someone else had been in before and made a complete hash of things. Nikon used a small amount of threadlock on the retainer. I soaked it in nail polish remover and let it soak, it took some effort but I managed to free it off. The 55mm Micro was really stiff to focus, nigh on impossible to use. Luckily setting the lens to closest focus exposed all the helocoils and I was able to get some grease inside. All good now.

Re: Vintage film cameras
A very long and slow focus throw on that lens, takes forever!

Re: Vintage film cameras
Nikons are looking good. How did you do that with the Pentax? Adapter?

Re: Vintage film cameras
It's an Olympus FTL lens, they are M42. The FTL was only on sale for about seven months just before the OM1 was released, just a stopgap camera. It won't work on all M42 cameras as it has an extra pin on the aperture ring that engages with a part on the FTL body to transfer the aperture setting to the meter. When I asked the question of compatibility on Facebook I was told it wouldn't work with other M42 cameras, but it clearly does, but you have to be careful or it could get stuck or not seat properly and get damaged. Worked on my Zenit, Praktica FX2 and my Edixa Mat, but only because the mount it raised and slim, won't work on my Praktica LLC. I actually received my gear back from the repairer, the SV was one he actually fixed but the 35 RC meter doesn't seem to work and the Pen D is still broken.

Re: Vintage film cameras
I picked up this very clean but "faulty" Nikon FE from eBay for a little over £20. No rewind crank (shaft was there) and no battery cover. So the rewind shaft was jammed in the raised position and I had to take the top plate off to flick the release lever inside. Got the film door open and it seems that whoever had it before had removed the rewind crank, the shaft sleeve had slipped out but they had put it in upside down. The meant the rewind bit raised up too high and got jammed. All good now and just in need of a clean. Got to love that serial number.
