I know what you mean. I am taking my test on a CB500 LOL and found that pretty heavy I will give it a go but if I don't feel comfortable with it then will have to drop down to the 125 for my test which is not a problem. I will have to see about getting to the bmf in Peterborough and like you say I do have time on my side so do not need to rush into anything right now . Can't help but wanting to though lol

I am going to look at an sv650s k5 in black tomorrow. It has quite a few extras fitted and a few spares and will save me spending a lot of money on it after. If anyone has any tips of what to look for it would be greatly appreciated being a Newbie I would probably just be making sure it looks nice lol.

No they don't have an er5 if they did then I would defintely take your advice and take my test on it and yes I will definitely attempt to take my test on the cb500 . I am not close to the bmf but it sounds like a good place to go for bargains...

check for rust on the subframe, general corrosion of bolts and fastners to give an idea of how well its been looked after.

fork legs as well, how pitted/chipped are they? again an indication of its life so far.

If its a black pointy you want, my best tip is go visit/drool over/buy Laws (in that order :P)

Yes I did see it thanks and you are right it does look great, the one I am going to see is fully faired... so I will have to see how I feel when I actually go and view it . I am not ruling anything out at the moment just hope that I make the right choice

In my opinion the only reason to buy a fully-faired pointy SV is to then strip the fairings and sell them on ebay to get some money back on the purchase.

Pointies need belly-pans, not fairings.

Only pimping Laws bike as I have seen it in the flesh and it is VERY nice.

Yes could do that too... it has got crash bungs for fully faired and also crash bungs if I took the fairings off, the original exhaust and seat and much more ... mind you I still couldn't ride it yet until I pass my test lol so would have to see if someone would ride it back for me
