p.o.n people after looking in to the "gladus" a bit more ( no i would not get one, but am confident in my sexuality) its proper title is the SVF650. so now we have for the series- sv650, sv650s, horrible pointy thing (03sv), horrible more pointy thing(03svs), fasionista bike(svf)

That's comparing apples with pears. The GSXR is a full-on sportsbike, we are talking about the naked SV and Gladius here! My bike is not a sportsbike as I wouldn't want to be seen dead on one LOL. But I never say never.

I have had 2 SV's, one of them from brand new which i have now done 40,000 miles on and i have to say i have never had that much confidence in them. Thats not to say i don't love my SV cos i do, it's just it's a budget bike with budget components nothing more nothing less.
If your happy with your bike and it's brakes then thats brilliant but it doesn't mean others can't have different views.
I would appreciate some respect. You are blatantly patronising now. Back to square on the ORG sooner or later you always get to the same point here and I know now why. SVs are ridden by younger guys and the chances that they talk ****e is just higher. R E S P E C T.

That may be, but it's also comparing "good" brakes and "cheap" brakes, like comparing Porsche brakes and Vauxhall Astra 1.4 brakes. The good brakes really are that bit better than the cheap ones, there's no denying that the SV would have better brakes, if it were fitted with erm........ better brakes?

Lol!
So the fact that your riding doesn't challenge the stock SV brakes means we all talk shiite? Awww Bless!

Why don't you go take a minute to get your little panties out of a knot and realise some people like to get a bit more of a shift on without giving their fingers a hernia using the stock brakes.

Though TBH, compared with a hardly driveable, the 6" single led shoe drum brake on my CG125 was f##kin impressive...

It is always one of the main points on an Sv. The brakes are marginal at best. I'm not a young guy, shock to some I'm sure, and I tried most things to improve on the standard brakes including stiffening the front forks.

Until you have ridden bikes with good brakes it is hard to judge how lacking the Sv's stoppers are. For sure you can ride around it, and it is a budget bike and fantastic fun, but any improvement on the standard set up is worthwhile and possibly a life saver.
