I agree regarding the use of poor spelling and text speak but what irritates me more than anything else is people who say "me" instead of "I" ie. "me is thinking of coming with you" or "me might make this one". I think to myself "my god... is a toddler writing this"???

One had a similar debate on this subject recently at home.

I regularly hear things like "I seen Jane at the shops today". It drives me mad. I was tempted to buy a book about grammer that was for sale in HMV over christmas but then I thought "nah".

It annoys me aswell, but at the end of the day some people have poor reading and writing abilities... and some people are just thick.

I think that is rather strong and particularly harsh!

Exactly. These days, any child who doesn't apply themselves or performs badly academically is automatically given an excuse, whether it's a poor home life, undiagnosed Dyslexia, Autism or something else.

Now, I'm not disputing the existence of these issues/illnesses, and some children are without a doubt victims of bad luck when it comes to the gene pool, but there is to my mind a huge amount of over-use of these conditons as excuses.

When I was at school, there were academically gifted pupils, athletically gifted pupils and normal all-rounders. Everyone had strengths and weaknesses.

Then, some were just dense.

No, I don't feel it is. Yes, people not spelling or making grammar read correctly is annoying for all you picky people.

But throwing insults at them that they are thick, I feel is slightly below the belt.

Has anyone just thought it may be lazyness (sp? Laziness(as per Firefox ))?
