Not a bad habit if it's quick, and it's how most of the fast group take it! - She'll (or any instructor) will go out with you, show you the correct lines and then get you out in front of them so that they can then watch you ride and pick up on anything that needs some improving, after you've finished your session, they'll come back in with you and de brief you on it, this will include picking any points where you most need to do some work but also pick out your good points and praise you....No one likes to be constantly told what needs work! I can't recommend this enough. They follow you for a bit, pull you into the pits, talk you through what they want you to do and then show you the right way. Afterwards, a debrief helps give you things to work on in the following sessions.

I can recommend Rockingham National (Immense) as a smaller track with some technical parts, or Rockingham International (My least favorite track. The joins between the speedway and the national track, and the chicane at the end of the start/finish straight need some serious work in my opinion. They ruin an amazing track, for the sake of getting extra numbers on track) for those who want to pick up a bit more speed, Cadwell should only really be done if you're confident for your first time, it's one of those tracks which could put you off track days if not handled right.
Mallory isn't one of my favourites for various reasons but that's just me.
Silverstone is another one to be done if you're fairly confident to begin with, it is very fast and can be quite daunting if you're not too keen on high speed cornering. (I would also recommend Anglesey for a good mix of corners and straights, with what seems like almost infinite amounts of grip!)
See my notes above in red.

Thanks Phil much appreciated. I will check out Anglesey too then. I looked at Rockingham international earlier and it seemed too complicated for my first go anyway- I think it would be better if I could learn the track pretty quickly and then just concentrate on going a bit quicker.

Sorry for bad english, too much cider.

It may look complicated, but it's very short (Rockingham National). this means your do more laps per session, so you learn the track much quicker. Use the instructors in the second session and you'll be right as rain by lunch. Angelsey is much the same, a tight technical bit and a faster bit, but it's SO grippy!

Brands Hatch is my favourite 'straightforward' circuit. It's simple to learn, has great corners and up and down bits and you can see all of the circuit from the front or the back of the pit garages, so you can easily watch people in other groups too. I did my first trackday here (on a GS500).

Cadwell was soooo technical and I'm afraid to say I hated it at first. But after a few laps I started to get a feel for it, and then I managed my first ever wheelie . I'd do it again, but certainly wouldn't recommend it for a first-timer.

Whichever one you choose to do, have a great time! And VT, stop faffing around about 'binning it' and get your **** on a trackday next spring. You'll love it and wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
