barely different is not quite fair i don't think. i agree there is less in every gear, but i could keep up to an extent with other sv's.

So can I, but I would be ragging the tits off mine and with the SV infront blissfully unaware im trying my hardest to keep on its tail.

If the SV in front put thier 'foot' down, they'd be gone.

I'm 33 and passed my DAS three years ago. Straight onto my sv and commuting every day since.
I also think, and have done for a while, that there should be something like it for new car drivers too.

But, young people who will use a bike for transport are not the problem. They will very quickly learn their lessons and remember them. The people who go for a hoon twice a year are the dangerous ones.
Northumbria is ex mounted aint got a force anymore. East Humberside are the worst offenders with that busa they've got youtube.

I fall into the transport catergory, whereas my bike previous owner was a three a year rider (2 runs and 1 mot )

I've learned me lessons 5k on a 125 and two drops on me SV

My 50cc (all be it de-restricted with 6 gears) was so bloody dangerous with the lack of power it had incase some nutter hasn't seen you.

Seconded. The 50cc restriction was rediculous for me. Luckily I spend most my travel on backlanes in the countryside where the cars rarely go above 30 so it wasn't so bad. Anything else was just nightmarish.

I can see why it would be bad on a restricted 125. But the law says "safe and necessary", so long as a car coming the other way isn't doing it, and you wish to overtake, fair game. Pretty obvious if the BMW behind the oncoming car is going to overtake, in that case best not unless the road is wide enough to squeeze through!

Local road just got hatchings. No bleedin way am I sitting at 22mph up the hill just because some council c0ckweasel decided to paint the road.

i couldnt belive how fast he left me it just shows how much the 33bhp does throttle the bike especially in 5-6th they might as well both be the same gear they both only go upto 7thou on mine.
how fast were you going? what gear were you in? bang it down 1 and take it to 9k before taking the next gear (or are the revs limited as well on ecu'd bikes?), 9k is where the power ends on my carbed one anyway. to me this is another good thing, you learn what gear you need to be in and where you need the revs to be to do these things. it makes you anticipate what's happening a bit more.

You need to be at the right revs on a full power bike anyway, on anything. 33bhp just teaches you wrong ones, which do not feel naturally like an engine. Then you have to learn all over again when you get full power.

This particular 125 rider tried to overtake lorries already doing about 55 mph - I sure as hell wouldn't do it unless they were practicaly at walking pace and then I'd treat it like filtering - with great care.

YC - Beat me to it. Thats like saying riding a cbr125 will help your gear changes when you next ride a cbr1000rr? (im talking powerwise)

So you'd say sitting at a slow jogging pace isn't necessary reason to pass on hatchings? God you must be patient (or have nowhere to go!)
