I really don't understand this 'them and us' attitude. It's a symbiotic relationship - we all, to a greater or lesser extent, depend on each other.
A whole bunch of hard working people, private and public workers, do a damn fine job, which may be at risk in these difficult times. I fail to see how arguing one lot against the other is helpful to anyone |

Nae need for that!!
All bosses are putting the wind up everybody. I've heard numerous rumours about the contributions going up, yet nobody has managed to produce a shred of evidence that they are. In that light, your Super has as much evidence of that as Bugs Bunny! If nobody challenges the situation then they'll get away with it... |

Yes, I know most people do a damm fine job. But Messie, ask yourself how many teachers have been sacked for incompetence? The public sector allows the shirkers to hide amongst the workers. I would question every position created in the public service over the past 15 years, why does that job exist? and what happens if nobody was to do it. A good example in my book is would anyone miss the road safety partnerships most districts seem to run? Except the people who are payed by them.

Divide and rule. Its classic methodology for our leaders and "betters".Reading through this I do recognise the wasters described sitting in cushy made up jobs doing little badly and getting paid for it,but from my experience these tend to be managerial or supervisory jobs. There is a whole class of desk drivers in Britain who live in this cuccoon some of them very well paid, but my expereience of public sector shopfloor workers is very different.Contrary to the propaganda public sector pay at the lower end of the scale is very low, often around the minimum wage, and as such is no better and often worse than the private sector. These people do not have jobs for life, and are subject to a regime of performance management just like anywhere else, and can be got rid of if deemed incapable.Incapable managers however do seem to be protected by their peers and its these who get moved into made up jobs and looked after.
But who is going to bear the brunt of any cuts?It will be the low paid footsoldiers of course just like it always is.

Yes, there are losts of non jobs that should be abolished. Yes, there are incompetent teachers, but there's lots of incompetent people in jobs on both sides of the fence. Top of the list - Bankers

I really don't see what benefit my Supt would have in telling us pension contributions were going up. At the end of the day said it was discussed at the last Supt's Association meeting as they were all opposing it but were pretty much told, tough. |

I'd suggest your Super has told you this in advance, in order to soften the blow for when something does actually happen. |

Best way to look at it is-your gonna get pumped, pumped hard, pumped deep, its gonna be sore, your not gonna like it,but if its your calling you'll put up with it.
Then in a few years they'll tell you things are changing for the better and it'll all start again |
