OK so here comes the U-turn on health insurance. I got a quote from tesco and read the small print carefully. £8.35 for a decent level of cover, would be daft not too at that price.

Yes, the small print says as long as the rider has a licence covering the vehicle and a helmet you are covered.

This is the wording:

What is not covered
As well as the general conditions on pages 54 to 56, the following exclusions apply.
1 You are not covered for claims caused directly or indirectly by the following:

e) You motorcycling, as either the driver or a passenger of a motorcycle which is
more than 125cc, unless the driver holds a current licence which allows them to
ride a motorcycle of more than 125cc and you are wearing a helmet


Since we will all be abiding by the 'unless' statement we are covered.
