Hate speed cameras. Me and my fella was going 40 down a 30 road and the speed camera flashed us.. We only realised it was front of the bike which obviously doesn't have a reg plate.

We got off lucky.

i got 3 points and £60 fine which sucks, i thought i'd get the course because my friend was caught at 50 in a 30 and got the course, i think its unfair i dont have the option

That's a joke, the A30 is also a safe road! That's the problem with the system. I have no problems with cameras in 20, 30 or even 40 zones or in places that are dangerous on other categories of road but most cameras are put where they will catch the most people speeding, without a thought given to the safety of the road.

For example just near Plymouth, between Deeplane and Marsh Mills, there is a triple laned dual carriageway, with a straight so long and nothing to impare vision, that it would be almost impossible to do a speed that would be considered dangerous on its own, however they regularly out a mobile camera at the end of it, despite it being a safe part of the road. They can do this as there have been several no injury accidents a mile or two down the road due to a busy slip road in the mornings and several deaths a little more than half a mile further down the road due to people using the bridge to commit suicide.

Slowing to 70 isn't going to do anything to stop the jumpers, nor stop the morons in the left hand lane from hitting people because they aren't paying attention on the slip road!

If the cameras and placements were fair and placed with sound reasoning, not many people would have a problem with them.

The offer can depend on the area you are caught in (i.e. has the force in question adopted the National Scheme arrangements), which I think is wrong, for first time offenders I think going on the course is more constructive then the 3 points.

If you hadn't sent off you could have done as mentioned earlier in the thread and requested it.

That's the issue with the mobile cameras here one day gone the next so less need to justify at least the static cameras usually make sense.

Still live and learn and I'd rather have them then not have them, they are a necessary evil but they don't help themselves sometimes.

wtf...I got caught doing 50 in a 30 and got 6 points and a £200 fine,
