horses (with or without riders), postmen, cyclists. He also kills cats, hedgehogs, fish, low flying pigeons etc, etc. We haven't let him of the leash since he was 1 year old but he still manages to get us in trouble. Thankfully, we have been spared court appearances but had to pay medical costs for other dogs. My wife has been suggesting for many years that we should insure him in case we face a really big claim (say, if he causes a terrible traffic accident with multiple fatalities). But I am just too lazy to do this. However, the encouraging thing is that Terry is not the only monster in our area. I have been told that I might have to appear in court as a character witness for our neighbourhood bitch, a Staffordshire Terrier whom I can't name for legal reasons. The owners of another dog that she injured are trying to have her put down and I might have to be called to testify that she is really sweet with me and with Terry (which is 100% true). |

Out for a ride on Sunday, same stretch of road as last time, aside from 2 horses causing havoc on a roundabout as usual, I saw a real idiot riding. Bloke on a horse, horse a fair way out from the side, basically in the middle of the lane, he was looking sidewards admiring the view - for a good 3 seconds; not just a glance, no hands on the reigns, one hand hanging relaxed by his side, the other HOLDING A BLOODY MOBILE PHONE TO HIS EAR.
On a more positive note, I saw 2 people on horses wearing fluro jackets on horses as it started to get dark. Never seen that before, I have to admit I'm impressed. |

Here's another nice one for you................
..............three "Woahh for horses!" brigade with high vis jackets spotted by myself and Quedos yesterday - luckily mostly in the rear view. They come plodding up a main road (on the edge of an industrial estate - kinda semi-rural) and signal right - tenths of a second before just pulling straight across the road in the path of oncoming traffic causing it to brake heavily ![]() ![]() Turns out to be true of course, since after making our turn onto another busy road (which leads to a Loch (Lake!) with footpaths- NOT bridleways!), there stands a triumphant tower of brown in the roadway just before a junction. ![]() Garry |

live and let live. most hores riders are fully insured for road use and medical insurance. the road tax is a complete red herring for horses and cyclists. your road tax only goes towards main trunk roads and motorways which neither use. local roads are paid for by council tax which we all pay. also what about pedestrians paying road tax cos they cross the road ( to get to the other side), they walk down country lanes etc. ridiculous. yes. our enemy lies elsewhere and doesn,t have four legs or two wheels

Just having read Kates accident update, here's an idea................
.........bill the riding schools for road sweepers after their little "accidents". Dog owners are expected to "scoop the poop" so why not others? Garry ![]() |
