Was in Boston visiting my sis. Almost bumped into the hijackers (I
flew into Boston late evening 8.11 and they flew out of Boston early
morning 9.11). My sis asked me to wake her up at 9AM so at 8:45AM I
switched on the telly and ended up seeing the second plane hit the
tower live on TV. Phoned Mrs Professor and asked for advice. The
advice was to try to get to the Canadian border. Unfortunately, all
trains and intercity buses stopped running by that time as well as
car hire, and my sis didn't have a car. So the only thing we could
do was check out the location of the nearest fallout shelter.

By a strange coincidence, I had tickets for the last BA flight into
Boston and the first BA flight out of Boston (a week later, when
flights resumed).

it was my first day bentley!!!!!!!!! they got warning because a plane had been stolen. high risk company or summit so they get warnin of tht sort of thing. then i was gettin told they had been flown into the trade towers was an eventful first day thts for sure

On a plane flying from Schiphol to Liverpool after a fantastic week at Assen for the WSBK rounds. Liverpool airport was very quiet when we landed.

I was holidaying in Mexico...... where there was a very large American contingemt staying. Not a very nice experience, the first morning it happened was very eerie, people just walking around in shock.

In a refresher ground school with a dozen other pilots and Flight Engineers, stunned silence as we watched it over and over, broken by one guy on his mobile telling his stock broker to sell all his aviation holdings.

Very frightening and far to close for comfort.

I was sat in the office having an earful of some guy who refused to pay his child support and giving me every excuse under the sun and calling me all the name I'd heard and a few more.

I remember him telling me that he doesn't get to see his kid so why should he pay and I just replied that in america there's loads of people who ain't gonna see loved ones turn on your tv and promptly hung up!
