I've been Northwind for as long as I've been on the internet... Originally goes back to when I used to do tabletop wargaming- there was a faction in one game called the Northwind Highlanders. The US players latched onto me being Scottish, and kept on calling me the Northwind Highlander. But I'm a lowlander, so it became Northwindlowlander. Then I dropped the lowlander part

Mine's from the Anglo-Saxon word Wyrd which roughly means 'fate'. It's a 'holistic' concept in that everything is thought to be connected by the 'web of wyrd'.

In a weird twist of fate, or Wyrd, it's also a shortening of my surname (Balkman), but that is purely coincidental
