Steady on boys, but Dan is right, I probably be able to get down the stairs, however after a couple of hours I’m not going to be able to get up them again, in fact I’m fairly sure I couldn’t even if I turned around at the bottom and tried it straight off.

I don’t expect the evening to be disrupted just because of me and I thank you Saeed for checking it out, it seems the easiest option is to bail out gracefully.

Cheers Mark.

Yes I went along to the rosseberry avenue place and it seemed alot duller than the one on uppper high street. They cannot accomadate 30 people only 20 on the Friday so that's outta the question. Upper street cannot acommadate 30 people upstairs as it is not big enough upstairs so I'm afraid we're stuck with downstairs unless we find an alternative venue or we can carry you on a chair down the stairs and back up again, there will be lots of helpers I am sure. We all want you to be there with us enjoying the festive spirit.

I've got this week and part of next to try an sort out another venue if you really cannot manage the stairs??
Dude, the guy has broken both parts of his leg and has no knee. Unfortunately he also lacks the ability to levitate. Yes, we can safely say he will have issues with stairs.

Anyway, the west end isn't exactly short on restaurants.

Dan
Sorry if that sounded a bit harsh, i've been revising all day.
not exactly the most postitive contribution there eh sudoxe?? I don't see you out there trying to help out and find an alternative venue...

Deeas - Just wondering whether one option would be to have a table upstairs with half the group and a table downstairs with the rest?

Mark, only you know how you'll feel with a few of us gently manhandling you back up the stairs. If thats just gonna be too unconfortable/painfull (even with the painkillers and the odd sly glass of vino) then please sau so. We even thought of sitting you on a chair and 4 or 5 of us carry the chair up with you on it. But again you're the one with the broken bits as only you can tell us if its worth trying that.
I'm sure none of us want you missing out on this so please let us know what you think is do-able for you and we'll try and make it hapen that way.
The split tables idea is good too as Plan B.

We could always run a tow rope through the restaurant, take it down the stairs, tie one end to Rictus, the other to an SV, and well... let the clutch out . Why make it more complicated than it has to be? Seriously, carrying up the stairs isn't going to be a problem; four strong lads should do it.

I've given this some serious thought, If it was just a case of pain, I’m sure I could manage, but I can’t manage the stairs, which would mean someone assisting me, now it’s easy to just believe everything will be fine and that could well be the case, however I’ve got to think of the worst case.

OK, let me paint you a picture, I come along, have a wonderful evening, and a few kind individuals start carrying me upstairs at the end of the evening, and something goes wrong, the ramifications of which turn out to be more damage to my knee, this resulting in me not getting the use back or even compromised circulation and amputation of my lower leg (this isn’t an exaggeration as the doc’s have already warned me about it, unlikely but possible), it’s one thing for me to compromise my recovery, it’s quit another for someone else. I really wouldn’t want to put anyone in that position.
whilst going was something I was very much looking forward to, given what it could cost me I can't take the chance.

The two table option seems good on the face of it, but I think the whole point is to get everyone together and not split up on different floors.

So thanks guys but I’ll just have to wait another year for the next one.

Cheers Mark.

i totaly see where you are comming from mate if thats the worst case scenario.
There will be a few who aint drunk come the end of the night if thats what your most worried about leading to a mishap on the stairs. I probably will be driving J's car so i wont be drinking much, just like last year.

Its just seems wrong to my mind to have one of our members down and off his bike yet still not able to come and join in the xmas do with us all.

Well levity to one side, I don't give a tinker's cuss whether we eat downstairs, upstairs, or at a table out on the pavement — but it would be a crying shame if Mark wasn't present.
