Update:

Haven't woken up one morning to find that I had a broken collarbone etc, so assuming that apart from the achey bits I am fine

Got my loaner bike delivered to work today - I am now the proud hirer of an '07 VFR800.

Also got a call from Metropolis with regards to an estimate/quote for the fix.

Everyone want to sit down for this?

Insurance Assessor has yet to go out, so dont know how things are going to go with that, but that sounds to me to be a little close to write-off for my liking.

Well I DO have most of the parts in the garage - including a front fairing

So that may be the way to go

As you have a pointy - no. The injection can be a little snatchy at low speed like the pointy, unless it is serviced spot on. It is a lot heavier than the SV. Apart from that, watch your speed it's too easy to go fast as it is SO QUIET.
