Dave, there has to be something daft wrong here. Did you get to strip the master cylinder in the end?

There's not much that can go wrong with a brake system. I would strip the master cylinder, inspect the seals, clean and rebuild it. Take your calipers off and check that everything is in order, make sure the seals are ok. Red rubber grease the seals and refit, failing that a dunk in brake fluid before refitting them.

Before fitting the brake hoses to the calipers fill the calipers near to the top with fluid to give yourself a fighting chance. Fit the hoses up and start the familiar routine we've been discussing for the past week.

Second time lucky

No, I still can't get that circlip off.
Think you're right, time to start again!

I'm going to have to drain the system again to strip the mcylinder right? I might just drain the fluid, remove the mastercylinder and take it to the bike shop, see if he has any circlip pliers that'll fit.

Remove bleed nipple from one caliper, fill reservoir, leave it for a while.

If you don't see fluid after about 10 minutes, try other side.

If that doesn't work then inflate a johnny bag and put it over the top of reservoir. Bit of air pressure can help.

Are you actually filling reservoir and not doing the old trick of putting fluid on top of the black rubber diaphragm?

Cheers chris, fluid'll come out when I undo the nipples just there's not enough pressure. I just don't seem to be able to get much pressure in the system however much I bleed it. I'll try running fluid through like you say though see if it makes any odds. If not I'm draining it replacing the seals in the masercylinder, taking the pistons back out and checking the calipers and starting over.

And no I'm not pouring it ontop of the rubber diaphragm lol

Just checking #cough#clutchswitch#cough#

It is possible for the transfer port in the m/c to get blocked too.
