Personally I like my burds to have a posh accent to disguise their filthy intent. Just my luck to have one with a Salford accent and no intent.
However, it is the sound of the West Yorkshire lass that gets me trembling. I just know that she will cost me a fortune, leave me a penniless wreck and regretting everything.

Although I am actually Scottish I have the famous RAF nothing accent where you don't sound like you come from anywhere.
Although because of this I subconciously imitate accents when I am with people with accents. I've worked with a guy from Yorkshire for the last 2 weeks and met his son towards the end of the two weeks. He asked me where I used to live in yorkshire, convinced that although I didn't have a full blown accent there were hints in it that he thought I used to live there when I was younger.

Mr Spiers - my eldest daughter is like you. we lived in gosport til she was 6 and she had a strong pompey accent (vile) then moved to west coast of scotland, with a month she had come 1st in a Burns Speaking Competition. then went to visit her cousin and came back week later with a belfast accent. now been living in aldershot for a year and she has a strange accent. Im scottish but dont think I sound scottish until I hear myself on answerphone or video - sounds horrific

I think most of the scottish accents are quite appealing, with the possible exception of broad Glaswegian.
I think I speak fairly neutral south east english, which is great for being understood but about as attractive as Milton Keynes. |
