Maria, I didn't say there was heated debate. I just read it, not attempting to read anything too much into it, and found a few of GG's comments being a bit harsh and slightly rude. Including her reply to me when I said she needed to chill a bit.

I wasn't expecting anyone to tip toe around on eggshells.

Say what you mean and mean what you say is exactly what I was doing...

Me too

Seriously...not meaning to come across as rude at all. Just explaining myself.

Foxes killed my colleague's beautiful Siamese and badly injured his other cat. Horrible animals.

I feel this woman should go and speak to her neighbours face to face. Explain she doesn't wish her cat to be a nuisance and ask if they could work with her at discouraging him from entering their homes by scaring him away in a non cruel way. She might also offer to buy the cat deterrent devices for their gardens. She should certainly have paid the costs of any vets fees resulting from her cat being aggressive. If that failed then create a fence he can't get over.

As I said, I looked into getting a Bengal but they are large, very affectionate and playful and quite vocal. I decided that was too much for my little house. Then I adopted my two black bears. Over 7kg each so huge, very affectionate and noisy. When they chase each other up and down the stairs it's like elephants stampeding. Mr LPH wasn't happy that these giants were instead of one Bengal. If I thought they were upsetting my neighbours I'd take steps to keep them in the garden as that's just being a responsible pet owner is about.

Yep and many species are struggling because of it.

From what she has put on her thread, she has given people cat deterrent things and water bottles, but some neighbours have their own cats and one elderly couple don't want to have to use a water pistol as they are quite slow to move around. The lady is annoyed that they aren't doing more to be helpful.

I understand that she has gone to some lengths to make things easier, but don't agree that she should be annoyed with others if they don't want to do what she says.

LPH...the question I mentioned was that a friend I ride with has just put a deposit down on a Bengal kitten. I have seen a picture on facebook and it is stunning to look at. It is her first cat and I mentioned i knew someone on this forum that was going to have one so she wanted to know if you could advise her on what she can do to prepare her house and make sure the kitten gets what it needs etc.

I have no idea about cats really so do you have any tips to help her?

Oh...and the picture on facebook of your cat lying on you in bed...I thought it was a black lab at first sight, lol
