Quite!

That way, when they announce a new income tax of 46p in the pound for base rate we could have a revolution.

Who wouldnt be up for it if they knew just how much money the govt takes off them in stealthy way like this?

I used to be up for a revolution but then I listened to "Won't get fooled again"and I caught apathy.
I tried to join the Anarchists but got banned for breaking all the rules.

if you break the "rules" or laws or whatever you care to address them as, don't bleat when you get caught! small illegal number plate = fine waiting to happen? surely? phd or not, thick as pig swill or not, copper having a bad hair day, whatever, the basic fact is a law rule call it what you will was broken, a fine was imposed. end of.

as i said before, get over it.

Do you think the small plate laws are new? Or exhaust laws? Exhaust regs have actually been relaxed of late, at MOT at least.

THAT'S what makes my blood boil.
Fair enough if thats the case.

Nonsense - once the fine is paid, the offence is wiped from your record. That was made very clear.
Wanna bet? Maybe it is for Scotland, but I know Fraser one of our resident coppers posted this up. Not me dreaming it really.

Once again, you're missing the point. I'm NOT bleating about being fined for having an illeagal number plate - yes it's illegal (although only just - he needed a ruler to check), yes I knew I could get caught and yes I've taken it on the chin.

My problem is that the police were spending the entire day doing NOTHING but stopping bikers and measuring their number plates with rulers and looking for road-legal stamps on the pipes. What also annoys me is that they claim this is in the interests of reducing biker road deaths when it is nothing of the sort (remember - no speeding equipment or pursuit capability). They are looking for conviction targets via the easy route. It's a complete waste of police time and tax-payers money when they claim to be critically under-staffed and crime rates are soaring. It is persucution of bikers - pure and simple. Complete and utter pish.

THAT's my problem so stop being holier than though and saying I told you so. I KNOW THAT ALREADY!!!

OK rant-mode off. Sorry keithD - not aimed just at you but at everyone who is missing the point here!

Mastiffmat, just make a mental note and then treat them with great derision when they have a 'little moan' ....and a complete lack of sympathy as well

I don't want to conform all the time. that's one of the reasons for riding a bike IMO.
Yep - I'm with you as well. I'm not bitching about the fact that I got done. I know that it's illegal. It's the fact that a police force used 4 police officers and two vehicles for an entire day ONLY for plates and pipes and ONLY on bikes on the pretence that it's going to save lives. Remember - they had no speeding equipment or pursuit capability.
Last night, and about every other month, there is a huge police stop n search type affair on a road in Lewsiham. I counted 45 coppers there last night, 15 police vehicles, a ANPR van, and a car trasporter, pulling over people with cars that look a bit iffy, and probably no tax/insurance/MOT etc. This i see as good. Lets face itm we all pay a huge ammount to be on the roads, so whay should some get away with it? I didnt see any bikes there though. Its not persecution on bikes, but then why do you think we get persecuted in the 1st place? Yes, thats right, dodgy riding, race cans, plates, visors etc. We as a community do seem to think that we can pick and choose which laws apply to us. Hell, i break many just on the way to work. If i get caught then so beit. When we get picked on, we moan. Yes its a minority that as always spoils it for the rest of us, but **** happens, deal with it and move on. You could of been done with failing to display a tax disc. Thats points n a fine!
