After 6 months of my SV being off the road (all of that glorious summer!) I finally got it back out, taxed and insured yesterday. Sure enough the skies turned grey and misty drizzle put a literal dampener on my first ride out in a while. Felt very tense, overthinking every lean in the wet, arms locking up even though I was trying to relax. And bike felt a bit lumpy even with a fresh tank of fuel. In short, I came back really not having enjoyed it at all.
Then today, the sun came out and I headed out for an hour or two expecting to not really enjoy it again. But... I had a brilliant couple of hours out! Warm, dry, fairly clear roads and just relaxed into the riding. Everything flowed. I've been toying with the idea of selling the SV when it was off the road, either just to sort out our dire family finances or to get something else instead and I'm so glad I didn't as I just loved it this morning. Didn't really get anywhere particular and had no intended route, but did end up next to this structure in the picture. Points for anyone who knows where and what it is. (Clue :It's north of Bristol) ![]() Last edited by Adam Ef; 05-09-18 at 12:54 PM. |

Thanks Bill, glad you like it. With the exception of the bit with all the plastic (see my recent GotD) the views most of the way round we're similarly good. I should've taken a few more pictures! I'll ride round that route again soon and get a few more shots.

Afew from todays soggy ride
Rainging at Sammy Lings on the B709 ![]() Two of the monks walking in the rain. I decided at this point I was going home 100 miles of drizzle is enough. ![]() Then it cheered up so being daft I carried on. B709 ![]() Another B709 ![]() Stopped at the AA box at Cappercleuch, Not many of these left. Stopped for a Geocache which was an easy find. ![]() Other side of the road ![]() Wet over the Megget and Talla. One of my favourite places. Raining and a poor view so no pics. Anyway there's been loads of org pictures of Tallalinnfoots. Stopped at the post box at Tweedsmuir of a Geocache. Easy I saw it from the bike. More rain but proper rain now so I was enjoying it. Don't mind rain, bloody hate drizzle. ![]() As I rode up to the source of the Tweed more drizzle. In the hills I was in the clouds and visibility was poor. My route was a loop round the Dalveen Pass and then Wanlockhead which is Scotlands highest village, so I gave that a miss and headed to Moffit. Moffit to Selkirk was wonderful warm and dry with dry roads, so I fueled up and did the bit to St Marys Loch again. Sorry no pics Carter Bar ish ![]() That time of year again. ![]()

Lovely pics LoM - nice to know too that I'm not the only one on here who looks for caches when out and about.
