A big one with a big motor with a large flow rate.
Think I remember something about certain compressors leaving a bit of oil in the air (which can't be good)

I have two feeds from mine, one through evaporator filter/lubricator and a second through an evaporator filter. My lines have different fittings so those to air tools requiring oiling will only fit the line to the lubricator etc.

That way I am doing my best to ensure no oil can get near my paint.

I also have a tee off for my air fed mask. Please if you are going to DIY paint don't use 2 packs without a good mask. No sense killing yourself.

I also have a couple of guns as for some reason red despite a good cleaning will always bleed out whenever I paint white etc.

BTW, I am no expert, I do the occasional bodge. But have enough friends who are proper panel beaters, painters etc to get a professional job done at the right price, ie cheap/free/materials only etc.

If you are only looking to paint with it then I presume an oil free one will be fine however if you are looking to use it for powering grinders, nut runners, or any kind of air powered tool then that will most likely require lubrication.
