My electricity is already with Octopus Lance, and I'm pretty happy with them. The trouble is that there is no proper mains gas in this town, it's a closed loop, town LPG system, and only Brutish Gasbags are allowed to operate it, so I'm stuck with the skeevy buggers.

Would your landlord agree to a heat pump etc to get you off gas? Good grants available. I know we've had similar conversations about solar, but maybe worth a shot?

I d love to have solar, battery, and heat pump Mike, but it's a council property. The funding terms for renewables in authority owned social housing stipulate that all the EPC D, E, and F rated properties have to be brought up to a minimum of a C rating before any property aside from new builds can have a replacement heating system, unless the gas boiler has reached EoL or failed. My place is rated at C.

I had a meeting in Newtown this morning, and I was hoping to go on the bike. However the roads here were white with frost still when it was time to go so I ended up having to take the car instead. I do dislike driving.

Phone call waiting times. Just spent 15 minutes trying to book an appointment for a blood test at my local medical centre, while listening to one voice telling me "all our staff are busy....etc" and then another recorded message telling me I can book an appointment online. Investigating that avenue reveals that they want me to send them an online photo of my id and a video of my face. I'm now on another call trying to sort out a magazine subscription. Been waiting for 5 minutes so far, listening to a really irritating and distorted piece of muzak.

Just employ enough staff and ANSWER THE FEKKING PHONE!!!

My sympathies to both of you. It's almost like we let our guard down and the viruses get us.

I'm also very run down thanks to three months non-stop hassle at work. When I stop for a break after such a slog I always crash for a day or so as I'm not hopped up on adrenaline. Not great health wise. Still, I'll be handing in my notice on Monday so the end is in sight.
