Smile Got This In The Post Today

Must say, we think we'll do this. 25 quid for a full 8 hours seems like a bargain. Good old Warwickshire County Council

I wonder if other councils will take the same initiative?

Nice one that.

I like the bit about "maintenance" too. That'll be check you tyres, oil & chain at a guess, but would love to be wrong.

Yes, I would imagine that'll basically be it although something a little more in depth would be nice.

Just checked the WCC website, and they give FREE 4 hour courses in defensive riding for moped and 125 riders, and also for moped riders moving up to a 125. It seems they realise that young kids often can't afford to pay for this kind of thing.

It seems WCC at least are seriously committed to reducing biker deaths and injuries if they can.

Neighbouring Council- Glasgow have had a mysterious entry on their website for a long while......

Just like Strathclydes bikesafe, there's never much detail of dates or prices etc.

Our own dear North Lanarkshire cooncil site responds "NO RESULTS" to the keyword motorcycle. A "full search" gets a best response of...... THIS

Better than nothing of course.

Edinburgh is doing similar but for cars next weekend for young drivers for free, no maintenance, but how improve road skills with a road police driving assesment, then off road obstical course plus more. Anything that helps young drivers weather its on bikes or cars (looking out for bikes) can only be a good thing.

No mention of a certificate

And Pete only pays 112 a year FC anyway, so think any saving might just buy a pint

of milk

Staffordshire do a BikeWise scheme ?30, meant to be worth about ?120 worth of tuition.

Seems like a good idea to me, I will certainly be taking them up on it when I am back on 2 wheels.
