Default HID Kits for THE Curvy SVS - Worth it?

Hi guyz, galz.

Just after some input on these as ive seen many cars with them in Audis, BMW, Mercs etc and they are awesome.... Anyone know if the light housing on the SV will be alright i.e. the lights wont over heat or melt the plastic etc.

Also after your opinions of them.....

Any websites that sell them would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ash

HID puts out less heat for same amount of light and usually less, or same wattage (power, but don't equate power in with power out...). Basically you can fit them with no problems other than perhaps adjusting the light down slightly to avoid blinding.

The biggest issue is fitting the ballast somewhere unobtrusive.

P.s yes theyre worth it. They make top quality bulbs like osram nightbreakers look like candles.

hids4u and others, check on ebay as there are cheaper ones. I'd advise going for a cooler colour.

Are they universal or do you have to get bike specific??

Fairly universal, just get the H4 fitment.

Because the rules and regs for cars use and construtction say that the Headlight unit must be designed for the use of a HID 'bulb' and also must be self leveling as to not blind other road users. I also remember seeing that they have to have a headlamp wash bulit in the car. There are probably loads of other stuff, but those i think are the main points. Also all bulbs must be E marked and there is always some grey area around if these things are approved or not, or just printed on there!

Personaly, i'd have a set in my SV, but just cant justify the cost. Just dont want forum members to come along in a couple of months and say 'I have just been done for having HID's in my bike why didnt anyone tell me?'

I've been thinking about this myself, though maybe just one lamp. But I need to get my electrical earth problems ironed out, hopefully with a replacement loom.
