Default Hello, SV Bought.

New to the forum, bought myself a 2005 650s (K5 I believe?) and turns out it is a previous sv650 members bike (ScottishRawker?).

Fortunately, the bike has been well looked after and there are a few glorious pics of it already, but naturally I am keen to share my own...

It's my second bike, as I got my licence just last April, and it's replacing a CB500 which I love, and which I am in the middle of restoring, hence the second bike purchase.

The Bike has a few mods including a cut "fuel" can, which sounds glorious, especially when popping, a rear tail tidy (which needs replaced urgently as it's cheap and rusty), shorty levers (which scratch at my OCD because they don't match the other greens on the bike, a black screen, and aftermarket indicators all round.

My plans are :

New rear tail tidy (I'm having one fabricated as I don't want to pay £70 or buy a cheap crap one)

Private plate on (6 characters in a line)

smoked rear lights with integrated turn signals (anyone bought this? easy to wire?)

new front indicators (as the left seems to flash too quickly)

new levers, in black.

The removal of the crash bobbins. (gasp gosh golly) I know I'm mental or whatnot but I hate the look of crash sliders. What goes in their place? the fairing looks to be made with these things very much in mind.

That's about it, I am still scratching my head over the green, especially on the wheels. While I love the look, it's not mine...so it may be short lived.

First things first though, I'm going to make it super clean!

Welcome to the forum. Where in Scotland do you call home?

I remember the wee man putting the green decals on the bike & still like the look (bar the rim tape.)

I'm in Gourock, please tell me you're close enough that we can go a wee ride out sometime, I desperately need a bike pal to follow into corners.

The cb's tyres were thread in the middle and brand new at the edges.

I'm kilsyth so we're not that far appart. We have a run up to Kinlochleven organised for the 18th of May. Have a look in the Ecosse section there are usually rideouts organised every month during the biking season (if I'm about and can be bothered)

that's the wrong thing to do.

if you feel your struggling then i would suggest you go and splash the cash on some advanced training.

I'd second that best thing I ever did for my riding was join the IAM. The guys at Glasgow North are great, the training I got from them was brilliant.
