Twisted ankle
You can get the sock/tube type supports … now bearing in mind they are just elasticised cloth, can they REALLY do much??
I mean 13st moving on an anke … more if you include momentum of movement, how can a piddly bit of elasticised sock truly ‘do’ much? Presuming the answer is a resounding YES because (not just a placebo yes ) does ‘strapping it up’ reduce heal time? Last edited by Blue_SV650S; 18-09-07 at 12:29 PM. |

Re: Twisted ankle
I don't know about heal time, but elastic strapping can definately help stabilise the injury... It's not so much support in the sense of bearing the weight, as helping to keep everything the right shape. Makes a huge difference for the slightly dodgy kneed amongst us, and it's teh same principle as with a twisted ankle.

Re: Twisted ankle
keeps the swelling out of it. Big fluid build up isn't good.

Is taking Ibroprophin (sp) to reduce swelling a good idea (from heal time point of view (don’t overly care about discomfort - if it just helps pain/discomfort I'd rather not be taking drugs)) too? Last edited by Blue_SV650S; 18-09-07 at 01:13 PM. |

Re: Twisted ankle
Sorry can't remember it well now , but pretty sure advice was rest, elevate & put a cold pack on it but strapping it up wasn't advised.
