Default decibel meters for testing bike/car levels?

I bought one before from eBay for about £20 and when it arrived it was the wrong one (I should have bought one which was 'weighted' differently - would register 105db when shouting at it from 30cm away).

Just wondering which is the correct one to go for..

Just curious why you care about DB's, don't tracks check it for you, and on the road is down to MOT discretion?

Yeah just for checking if the vehicle is over dB limit prior to attending trackday will help avoid any major disappointment for if it does turn out to be over (car with 4-2-1 manifold, fully decat straight through system and air filter).. Spoken to a guy with a similar set up on his rally car (same production model) and he says he's pushing 100-103dB
