Default Route please check.

Good evening one and all. Sunday I will be travelling from Bath to home via the scenic route. As I know almost sod all about the roads in the area, I was hoping you could have a look at my proposed route and put me right. I'll be setting off early and get in at whatever time it takes. Don't forget home is north of Newcastle. https://goo.gl/maps/DtBAG1HkCN52
Thanks in advance

I would HIGHLY recommend the A483 Crossgates to Newtown. You are currently going to just miss it, but well worth the detour!

Bath to Stroud on the A46, then over to Gloucester, Ledbury, Hereford, Church Stretton kind of way, Welshpool and on.

I'd say you have the section from Rhaeadr to Bala about right. Some nice scenic stuff there. A couple of little roads (Rhaeadr to Llanidloes) but as long as you keep your wits about you, it'll be fine.
The A483 Crossgates - Newtown road is ok but on a Sunday it's likely to be full of idiots.

Agree that it's a good route, but if you want more scenery, I'd suggest the minor road from Dinas Mawddwy to Bala via the Bwlch-y-Groes. It's single track but a decent surface with some great views. https://goo.gl/maps/eNFy6eygSiS2
