A few years ago a petrol Honda Jazz ( not even a hybrid ) did Lands End to John O'Groats on 40 litres of fuel - at a higher average speed than that. https://www.theaa.com/about-us/newsr...y-world-record

The Polestar EV test was done in the very flattest part of UK - East Anglia, and it was the long range ( larger battery ) single motor model....

The WLTP range of that model ( 111KwH battery ) is already advertised at 438 miles, so basically by driving at 25 mph on the flattest roads in the world it increased its range by about 25% - Pretty pathetic publicity stunt really

I've been so impressed with our ID.4 EV, we're getting another EV!

This time we're getting an ID.3 as the ID.4 is too big for our needs. The extra internal space from the dedicated EV platform means a smaller box gives all the space we need, even when all the grandkids are in with their car seats. I was planning on getting the 59kWh battery model (260 mile range) as I've full confidence in the charging infrastructure now and 250+ range is plenty. I have got a great lease deal on a 79kWh model though, so I'm getting a car with more range than I can use! (no way will my bladder last long enough to drive 350 miles )

My bladder wouldn't last that long either but that sort of range is now pushing me closer to an EV. Anything less would make the already horrible and long journey to/from mum's house into a more drawn out horrible and long journey, as I'd have to stop and charge. A 350 mile range is just enough for a round trip.

The only charge point I've seen in her village is in the very small CoOp carpark, which often has an ICE car blocking it as there's not enough spaces.

It's fascinating to watch the technology jump forward so often in this market. A bit like PCs in the early 90s.

Most cars can add 100 miles in pee stop should charging be needed. No need for a specific charge stop, charge when the human needs a break.

It's good to see the range of EVs increasing so much now. The technology is going to have a knock on effect on e-motorbikes too I'd guess, which has to be a good thing.

Another thought about visiting your mum, Trev. Is it possible to charge while visiting? Charge while you do something more interesting. Even a 3-pin plug can add a decent amount in a few hours.

Alas, not really. Although she has a driveway there is no suitable outlet to run an extension cable from. Wish there was.

Alas (again) no. As mentioned before, only in the local CoOp car park, which I think is locked shut out of shopping hours.

I'll have to have a wander round the village next time we visit to see if any have popped up elsewhere that I've not noticed. There is a petrol station with a Starbucks next door (ex Little Chef) and a social club with indoor bowls club, either of which may now have one.

Of course, we could always move closer...
