I know that chain on the sv is O ring.... Keep seeing X ring on sites to buy chains... as far as I can see its just a different link...
is there any benefit to either type ? |

it's not a different link, it's the seals between the links that has a different cross sectional shape.
Supposedly X-rings hold oil better, so last longer. The shape would suggest that's true, but I don't know how much it really works. |

I always thought that the X wings in star wars where pretty good.
![]() X ring is better as it has 2 seals as opposed to the single seal of an o ring chain. In the long run, and for the little extra, x ring. |

I've got an Iris Gold X-ring (£55 delivered from BFM) and it seems fine, whether it lasts longer or not, only time will tell. Certainly makes the SV faster though

just to add to the fun.
In HG new cataloge, they have a chian with an x/w ring. Its x shaped with a w shape cross section. Looks like it has 3 seals with 2 seperate chanlles per seal. Confused? See the catalogue. Its got a cross section picture to it. I need to get a stand before i can do any of these fun jobs to mine. Even lubing the chain takes some skill at the moment. ![]()

Yeah, I use the side stand and a floor jack. As far as putting a new chain on, all I had to do was cut the old one off and put the new one on. It didn't require lifting.
