I'm too heavy - need front fork upgrade

I'm 14 stone at the moment, getting heavier

Where can i get some ohlins for my SV i looked at some websites but none of em offer any for the SV.

If i take it to the shop - how much will it cost ?

You are only a pup at that weight. lol


I spoke with PLR suspensions in N.I. who are ohlins agents and suspension specialists and was told there are no ohlins forks made for the SV. I was given optimism by the fact that they can do a Stage 3 revalve along with reoiling and ohlins springs for £250 .... this brings it up to race spec Along with repairing my wrecked forks for around a further 230ish makes me happy

Rear shock by ohlins is about £470, nitron also do a shock about £450

There are ohlines springs that will fit. Somebody will be along shortly to tell you which ones.

I got mine from Demontweeks, or if you're happy to wait you can have the racetech springs I have in mine at the mo.
I've lost weight so I'll be setting the front a little softer.

Spring upgrading alone won't do the job. Damping is what suffers the most. Consider the racetech or Traxxion cartridge emulators, they did wonders with me and don't cost a fortune too. Traxxion also offer a full cartridge internal system which costs 1000$, which is too much, given that the emulators do a fine job. Racing would be the only reason one would like to upgrade to the full cartridge internals.

The racetech valves come simply as drop-in valves which means you have to drill larger holes on the stock damper rods. The Traxxion valves come with separate rods made especially for the upgrade, which means that A) You don't need to do any machine work B) You can return to the stock internals and separately sell the upgrade kit should you want to sell the bike. Mind however, the Traxxion kit will set you back 100$ more.

Ask jonboy, he has ohlins springs at the front.... well, ohlins stickers at the very least. They make him go faster

got mine from demon tweeks cost £70 and next day delivery. Absolutely first class service. also bought Ohlins fork oil from them. But got my adjusters from my local dealer for about £42

Don't worry about the weight mate, I'm a large 16 stone and run Ohlins springs at the front with Ohlins rear ones on a curvey sk1. I have no problems with the bike at all.

Eh... No. Spring and oil upgrading alone will do the job pretty nicely, and well enough that most people will never upgrade further. Emulators are better, but springs and thicker oil are a prefectly good mod in their own right.

If what you want is a big improvement then yes, emulators are a good idea. If what you want is suspension that works well with your weight then they're overkill.
