Re: Shoei XR1100
I have one and it is fantastic.
So much quieter than my XR1000. The visor is brilliant, it self seal due to the mechanism, this helps reduce the noise massively, it also prevents drafts etc into your eyes. The visor now takes an extra large pinlock so no more view is blocked like the old xr1000. The vents are very very effective, the one by your mouth demist instantly but over 30mph can get a bit windy in your eyes. The chin strap is much easier to clip shut. The padding is much more comfy, feels tighter at first bit beds in real nice. Nothing negative to say about it except at £390 they are expensive, a big step forwards from the xr1000 though, they have fixed everything that was wrong with it. I would recommend one. |

Re: Shoei XR1100
And the other side of the argument;
I was at J&S in Northwich last week, chatting with the Shoei north west rep. I had my XR1000 and was shopping for a new visor. We talked about the XR1100 and to my surprise, the rep insisted that the XR1000 was essentially the same lid. The visor lock in system is good, but a well adjusted XR1000 is at least as good. He then let an important cat out of the bag. The man from Shoei rides in an XR1000. The new lid is, according to him, a marketing exercise to bolster sales with other (Arai) companies bringing out new lids. I was dead set on one a few months ago, but getting a posh painted XR1000 for £250 swayed me! Pete

Re: Shoei XR1100
Having lived with both I prefer the xr1100... I was tempted by all the xr1000s on offer as end of line, but the difference was very noticable. The much bigger visor area, bigger pinlock and noise difference is what I was sold on.
The xr1100 is a completely different shape and entirely new design. Sit them next to each other on the worktop and the difference is very noticable. The shop was probably trying to get rid of old xr1000 stock and earned an incentive for selling one. Edit:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXarU...=youtube_gdata good little you tube video showing a run down of the helmet. Show the difference in visor/pinlock size which was my biggest annoyance with the 1000. The visor seemed tony and the pinlock line was right across your eyeline when tucked in behind the screen or cranked over. Last edited by G; 22-04-10 at 09:21 PM. |

I sold the last stocks i had of the XR1000 for £150 too. Plus check to see if yours has an ACU sticker on it?. I had a customer in a few weeks ago that had brought an XR1000 from J&S and it had no ACU sticker. It turned out to be an imported lid dated 2005! |

Re: Shoei XR1100
My Bro's got one. Thinks it's ace. Very quiet, even at considerable speed.
I'm still hankering after a Schuberth S1 Pro meself- it's the drop down shades that does it for me... |
