Wood burner for a 6ft x 7 ft workshop, advice?
I was a wondering if anyone would know if this would be an over kill for this size of shed?
Its a tin shed so not insulated yet and I'm going to be in it during the day working with glass for about 5 hours. I don't want to freeze during the winter and electric heating is not really what I want cos it expensive. Had a look at machine mart and they have little pot belly wood burners with flues. No idea on the BTU of these things are, and I have no idea on how that works either. Sound good? Any ideas would be helpful peeps Denise |

Based on http://www.woodburnerwarehouse.co.uk...o_i_need.phtml you need a stove with an output of ~0.7KW output.
I'm way over on mine at home, the only issue is if you go above 5.5KW you'd need a trickle vent to ensure your getting enough air in (not an issue in this case). Even if you went for the machine mart one 3KW max output, you can control it by controlling the burn, nominal output is gouing to be aout 1.5 to 2KW on that. Stoves online and Stoves r us are quite good value. The double skin flue you need won't be cheap, but The flue factory were the cheapest when I got mine Ste

Oh thank you for that. That web site will come in handy for dad when he gets one. But they are about 200 qiud over what I want to spend. Very nice stoves on there! esp the charnwoods.
Thanks again for helping me! I now know what power/output I need to be looking at too. Denise |

Thats a very small area to be using a wood burner to heat it up. I'd be inclined to put permanent ventilation in to allow plenty of air flow to the burner. You don't want to be lovely and warm but starved of oxygen do you

Yes, my other half is a metal person and does this all day long but he is a bit tied down at the moment and he is doing his own bunnies. Don't want him to be told off too much.
I was thinking of designing a small burner for when he has the time, but I have no idea on how to go about it. Plans to make one would be good. I got all summer to make it before we get the cold weather again. Denise |

Carve up a propane cylinder. Done a few like this, not pretty but they work well
