Default Alkylate petrol

Someone on the Z900RS forum posted this suggestion for bike storage:

https://aspenfuel.co.uk/

It's an (expensive) ethanol free, alkylate petrol which won't go stale. The OP said it costs £19/5litre (yikes) but he has various 2 strokes (chain saws and bikes) and they start without issue after months of inactivity as do his 4 strokes.

Might not be for everyone but it's an alternative to fuel stabilisers although it means draining the tank.

Default Re: Alkylate petrol

Alkylate is just a branched hydrocarbon fuel made from alkenes formed when cracking crude oil. Used as an additive to petrol to prevent knocking. Alcohols will absorb water, so I'm guessing without them in the mix this could work and it would be free of aromatic hydrocarbons and sulphur compounds, so safer to handle and no sulphur dioxide emissions.

Pricey though.

My old GT380 used to fire up quite happily on E5 fuel after 6 to 8 weeks of not being used ... I know in the US bike owners are always going on about 'bad gas' etc, but I reckon the fuels we get here are still fine and usable after 3 months of inactivity, if not longer.
