Loads round here have those hoods, it's to confuse them so they can't escape.

That or it's to stop the flies.

I think I better get an electric one. Can't be dealing with these explosive gearsets

Should be fine as long as you laid it down gently and the derailleur hanger is not one of those made of cheese.

We do get a lot of customer throwing bikes in the back of cars derailleur side down and then driving them home on a bumpy journey, followed by a phone call wondering why their gears don't work after it was just serviced though.

I think the horses hoods is a gang thing. Some round here wear capes.

It wasn't touching the ground and had a nice bed of hay to cuddle in to

I fit a derailleur protector bracket to my bike , but I try not to lay a bike on its side anyway where they are most vulnerable to damage . (must start riding the bicycle again )

Wife has an electric bike because of her arthritis, its been a God send allowing her to cycle when it was becoming increasingly difficult. Great for me to as well I visit a mate a couple of times a month loaded with homebrew and then come away with panniers loaded with produce from his garden. All uphill on the way back so the bike takes the strain.
