Default Chicken or egg?

I have encountered a problem when trying to insure my new bike.

1) DVLA won't register the bike without insurance
2) Insurance company (Bikesure) won't insure without a registration.

I know what the reg will be once it's registered but dealer says telling insurance company ahead of it being registered will cause a problem.

I can't believe this is a new problem that has never been encountered before.

I'll try again tomorrow.

You can insure on the VIN you just need to find somebody who knows that

Had something similar bringing my German car home.

Good to know, thanks. I'll try that tomorrow.

It seems that Bikesure say that they don't check the registration number with the DVLA so much ado about nothing.
However, I think that a charge of £230 to take the Yam off and add the GSX is extortionate. I did a quick Comparethemarket and could get a single policy on the GSX for £140. Bikesure refused to budge on their quote and I'm in a hurry so they got their pound of flesh. I don't recommend Bikesure though.
